Can anyone help?

Gaynor Stonecliffe, Simulated Patient Coordinator in Preston, has asked if anyone can help. She is looking to collect together a library of video clips for preparing SPs to communication sessions. Ideally they would be doctor/patient interactions covering areas such as:
 Taking a medical history
 Explaining results and/or treatment to a patient
 Breaking bad news
 Mental health assessment
 Dealing with angry patients/relatives
 End of life care
 Negotiation skills
 Dealing with ethical dilemmas

The purpose of the video would be to generate discussion with SPs around the kind of feedback that they could give to the doctor in the clip. Gaynor does have some – very amateur – videos that she has used in the past but she would like to produce some more professional videos for this purpose.

Would anyone be able to recommend any internet links? Or put Gaynor in touch with anyone who may be able to help? [Gaynor.stonecliffe@lthtr.nhs.uk]

National course

Would you - or any SP trainer or SP you know - be interested in attending a two-day course? This would be open to anyone already working in this area - or anyone thinking to getting started with training other SPs. The intention would be to share our expertise. Costs would be kept to a minimum...
